Owl Tattoo

Changing the world is possible.

We’ve done it before.

We need to be the change we wish to see. Tattooing is an ancient art form practised all over the world. It has been used for healing, transformation, protection from illness and negative energies, identification with a belief system, status and ornamentation. I believe there is personal power in tattooing. A tattoo can remind you of an important belief, a loved one, help alchemize a desired change or simply make you happy because of its beauty. My private and peaceful studio located in The ALTON MILL ART CENTRE, is a beautiful space that helps those who want to do inner work while they are receiving their tattoo.

with Mother Earth

For thousands of years humanity lived in balance with Mother Earth. Due to globalization, over population and aspects of our modern culture, we have lost this balance, resulting in rapid deterioration of our environment and our fellow species. These changes have largely happened in only 200 years! A mere blink in time. I am passionate about our Planet and believe each of us needs to make changes to re-balance give and take. Therefore at least 10% of profit goes to Nature Conservancy Canada to offset the single use plastics and other wastes generated.

Bookings

My books are currently closed to custom designs. I am currently booking flash pieces.

A little about my process…

I practice what I call “slow tattooing’, which means fully rendered, traditional art on paper (except for realism and cover-ups where procreate is the better choice) and then a handmade stencil. Digitalization is a big time saver, but I believe there are benefits to doing this process by hand. On paper, watercolour and Chinese sumi, each interact in unique and interesting ways to make effects the computer can’t duplicate. Often some of the best effects happen this way. Each time I redraw the design, for a painting and then a stencil of the painting, it improves, and I ultimately understand the design intimately by the time I tattoo it. I like to really take my time with each client and so when you come into my beautiful studio space, there is a relaxed peaceful pace and also a careful focused process for applying the stencil and the tattoo itself. For this reason, a flat daily rate works better than an hourly rate. My daily rate is $1000 plus hst. A day usually starts at 930am when you arrive and ends around 430 pm when I finish the tear down and cleaning process. This window can shift slightly as needed. When you arrive for a tattoo you can be sure that I have already put a full days work into the process, sometimes more. The cost of the tattoo covers all the additional time needed. If a tattoo is less than a day’s work, the hourly rate is $200. Both of these rates are all inclusive of the consultation process, design, stencil, tattooing and follow-up touch up session as well. Starting Nov 1, 2023, all new custom bookings will require a $200 deposit to secure. Flash designs require a $100 deposit. This deposit is fully refundable under the policies that can be found on my policy page. Conditions that affect the deposit’s refundability are time spent on custom designs and proximity to the actual tattoo date.

Thank you so much, Allison
